Strada in Chianti

In Chianti, the secret to enjoying the shade is waking up early. The cool air lingers, and the golden light of the morning promises a slow, peaceful start. I hang the laundry, preparing it bask in the sun. The boys picking grapes out front. I steady the ladder beneath them. Dressed in hats and shorts, we head into town for my cappuccinos and their fumo di latte—hot milk—and errands, with a stop by the butcher. As the day unfolds, lunch comes together—simple, slow, and vibrant.
